In 2022 NYC tourism numbers were expected to reach upwards of 56 million people, and when a city is seeing that many tourists in one year, you know there’s gotta be something about its tourist attractions worth visiting.
The team behind vacation site Family Destinations Guide decided to figure out the most popular tourist attractions in the U.S., and coming in at the fourth spot is NYC’s very own Central Park.
Family Destinations Guide gathered together 50 of the most popular tourist attractions in the U.S.–judging by the number of annual visitors–and figured out how many of those attractions’ reviews were TripAdvisor’s highest “excellent” rating.
According to their data, Central Park sees 42 million visitors each year, with 78% excellent TripAdvisor reviews, thus making it the fourth most popular tourist attraction in the U.S.
The only attractions that scored higher than Central Park include Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina and Tennessee with 89% excellent reviews, the Grand Canyon in Arizona also with 89% excellent reviews, and Mackinac Bridge in Michigan with 82% excellent reviews.
Central Park isn’t the only attraction the made the list, which isn’t surprising considering how much NYC has to offer.
The two other attractions are lower down on the list, though. Times Square also made the cut (which likely doesn’t come as a surprise) and possesses 59% excellent reviews. Times Square also happens to be the most visited attraction in the U.S., with a whopping 50 million visitors annually.
Further down you’ll find South Street Seaport with 39% excellent reviews and 9 million visitors per year.
With everything there is to do in NYC–from outdoor dining at delicious restaurants, all the amazing free activities, and the endless culture the city has to offer–it’s no wonder we’re also home to three of the top U.S. attractions!
Though, when you’re looking to avoid the tourists, here are some delicious restaurants that are typically tourist-free.
