We may still be picking out Halloween costumes, but our minds are already wandering to stuffing, parade balloons, football, and a post-pumpkin pie nap.
And now, thanks to The Old Farmer’s Almanac, we finally have a look at what kind of weather New York City can expect for Thanksgiving 2025. Spoiler: it’s going to feel like Thanksgiving.
2025 NYC Thanksgiving Forecast — Cold, Cozy, & Perfect For Parade Day
The Old Farmer’s Almanac has officially dropped its Thanksgiving Travel Weather Map, and for New York City, it’s looking like classic Thanksgiving weather: crisp, cool, and just right for parade-watching.
According to the Almanac, the Northeast should “bundle up—it’s colder than average.” Northern New England might even see some snowflakes, but the southern half of the region (that’s us!) can expect a “crisp, sunny Thanksgiving.”
(Oh, and don’t worry, the first snow in NYC probably won’t hit until early December, so we’ve got a little time before the NYC Winter Olympics kick off).
Basically, it’s going to feel like Thanksgiving—the kind where you should definitely be bundled up in your puffer coat while watching the balloons to float by, but can still manage a post-dinner stroll through Central Park (if you’re still awake) without turning into an icicle.

And really, we should’ve seen this coming.
Back in July, the Almanac predicted a cooler-than-average fall for the Northeast, promising that those chillier temps would “translate to some pretty foliage.” They weren’t wrong—NYC’s been showing off some of the best reds and oranges we’ve seen in years.
And that same cool air that gave us that picture-perfect foliage is now paving the way for a brisk (but very cozy) Thanksgiving.
So yes, it’s going to be cold, but that’s part of the charm. Thanksgiving in NYC is always about layers, laughter, and a little bit of chaos, right? Anyways, if you need us, we’ll be warming up with a mug of mulled wine.
