All aboard for some all-new subway stats!
A recent customer satisfaction survey conducted by the MTA reveals which subway lines riders love most—and which ones leave commuters less impressed. The results were shared on Twitter by Dan Garodnick, Director and Chair of the New York City Planning Commission.
🚇 Highest-Rated Subway Lines
Leading the pack is the 7 train, earning the top spot with an impressive 73% customer satisfaction rating. Known for connecting Queens to Manhattan and serving some of the city’s busiest corridors, the 7 line continues to stand out among riders for its performance and reliability.
Tied for second place are the Q and G lines, each receiving 72% satisfaction. The Q, which runs from Brooklyn through Manhattan and into Queens, and the G, which connects Brooklyn and Queens without entering Manhattan, both garnered strong marks from passengers.
Coming in fourth is the L train, with 65% satisfaction. The L, which links Manhattan and Brooklyn, has seen major improvements in recent years, and riders appear to be taking notice.

🚧 Lowest-Rated Subway Lines
On the other end of the rankings, the 5 train received the lowest score, with 59% customer satisfaction, placing it last in the survey.
Close behind are the 2 and W lines, tied for second-lowest at 60% satisfaction each.
The 4 train ranks fourth from the bottom, with 61% satisfaction.

All in all, even the lowest reports are on the higher side, which makes sense according to recent data. This survey comes hot on the heels of a recent survey that showed the MTA’s record-breaking 2025 performance, which saw safety and rider satisfaction at all-time highs—with Manhattan and Staten Island leading the way.
All in all? Riders are feeling safer and happier navigating the city, which is what we like to see. Happy commuting, New Yorkers! ❤️
