New Yorkers are waking up to a winter wonderland—and a commuting nightmare—this Monday, February 23.
With the current snowstorm dumping 12 – 18 inches across the five boroughs, the New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) has officially reactivated its live snow plow map.
If you’re wondering when your street will finally see black pavement again, you can now track the city’s progress in real-time.
How to see the live progress
The PlowNYC map is a color-coded system that shows exactly when a street was last serviced by a DSNY spreader or plow:
- Green: Processed less than an hour ago.
- Blue: Processed 1–3 hours ago.
- Yellow: Processed 3–6 hours ago.
- Orange: Processed 6–12 hours ago.
With the city under a Winter Storm Warning until noon, DSNY has deployed over 2,000 plow-equipped trucks and hundreds of salt spreaders.

What to expect today
The Mayor’s Office is currently advising New Yorkers to stay off the roads if possible to allow the plows to work efficiently.
Alternate Side Parking has been suspended for today, Monday, February 23, though parking meters remain in effect.
Where to find the map
You can access the live tracker here.
Note: Due to the high volume of traffic during major storms, the map can occasionally lag.
