After one of New York City’s biggest snowstorms in recent memory, the question on every New Yorker’s mind is simple: Has my street actually been plowed yet?
There’s now a surprisingly satisfying way to check — and it comes in the form of an interactive city map called PlowNYC.
The tool shows exactly when NYC streets were last plowed, block by block, using real-time data pulled directly from the city’s snow operations.
The map updates frequently and color-codes streets based on how recently a plow passed through — whether it was within the last hour, earlier today, or more than a day ago.
In other words, you can tell at a glance whether your block is freshly cleared, halfway there, or still waiting its turn.

The city deploys snow plows once about two inches of snow accumulates, with major roads, bus routes, and emergency corridors cleared first, followed by side streets. PlowNYC lets New Yorkers see how that rollout is unfolding in real time, down to their exact address.
You can zoom in on your neighborhood, search for a specific street, and check the timestamp showing when a plow last passed.
It’s especially helpful for drivers trying to dig out, parents planning school drop-offs this week, or anyone figuring out whether it’s worth braving the cold just yet.
