Giant nutcrackers, thousands of sparkling lights, technicolor ornaments — no, we’re not talking about the iconic Dyker Heights Christmas lights — but something just as festive that involves hopping boroughs!
New York’s largest Christmas store (according to their website) — House of Holiday — is located right here in New York City, Queens to be exact, in Ozone Park. And it’s been a neighborhood staple for more than 20 years. House of Holiday is located in a rather historic building, and is actually in the perfect location for its inventory — local legend says it used to be an artificial Christmas tree factory that first opened in the late 1940s.
Here’s everything to know about one of NYC’s most magical holiday shops:
What does House of Holiday sell?
This giant store has everything you could need/imagine to truly get in the holiday spirit — ornaments of all shapes and sizes, tree trimmings, lights, decorations from elves to Santas to angels, poinsettias, and of course, lots of lots of Christmas trees. In fact, House of Holiday states that they “offer by far the largest selection of live and artificial Christmas trees” in the entire country.
One of the main items they are known for is their Christmas village set-up — they have every type of miniature business or building you could need, by all the major Christmas village brands. Most recently they shared that the 2024 Lemax Collection has arrived in their store, boasting hundreds of new vintage-style figures and figurines.
Our favorite part is that the holiday magic spans two gigantic floors — so just as you think you’re reaching the end of the decorations…it just keeps going! And if you stick to a holiday theme or color scheme, House of Holiday is perfect — they divide decor into categories from “gold and ivory” to “birch berries” to “The Grinch.”
Where is House of Holiday located?
You can find it at 90-02 Atlantic Ave, Ozone Park in Queens, NY. By public transit, it’s easiest to take the E train to Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av. and then the Q53 bus. But in general it’s most convenient to drive — and they have their own parking lot with free parking.
When is it open?
The store is now open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. You can check their website to see their updated hours for various events or special occasions.
And if you’re not able to visit in person, House of Holiday also has a huge online store so you can order for delivery. You can even call 833-ELF-HELP to have all your most pressing decorating questions, answered!
