The giant Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is an iconic symbol of the holiday season in NYC, but when this year’s tree was delivered on Saturday, it was a bit…anticlimactic.
Photos and videos revealed a barren-looking tree, which New Yorkers were quick to give some pretty hilarious hot-takes on.
Of course, since then, Rockefeller Center has confirmed that the tree usually looks like this when it first arrives and needs time to shake out. “The tree is fully wrapped, branch by branch, for a couple of weeks before it is cut and driven into the city on a flatbed truck,” a rep told NBC New York. “The journey took two days this year. When it’s unwrapped and first put up, the branches don’t immediately all snap back into place, and those are the photos you’re seeing. It takes a while before it fully settles.”
While we have no doubt it will look incredible all dressed up, we can’t help but stan the way people on Twitter are dragging its current shape.
Scroll down for a laugh, and don’t worry, there were plenty of Charlie Brown Christmas tree references…

The 2020 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree looks like one of those really old tree people in “Lord of the Rings” that just wanders off into the forest to die

Even Rockefeller couldn’t keep quiet after all that xx, coming back with its own sassy response:
Wow, you all must look great right after a two-day drive, huh? Just wait until I get my lights on! See you on December 2! 😉
