With the return of the holiday season comes all of the dazzling tree lightings, festive holiday window displays, magical holiday markets, and, of course, NYBG’s enchanting Holiday Train Show. But guess what New Yorkers: there’s a new holiday train show in town this season–the New York Transit Museum Holiday Train Show!
Well, this holiday train show isn’t exactly new, but it’s making its first return since 2019!
The train show will feature a miniature electric 34-foot-long, two-level, “O” gauge railroad running over, through, and beneath some of New York’s most magnificent landmarks, such as a replica of Grand Central Terminal. The museum’s collection of Lionel trains including Metro-North, Polar Express, and vintage subway train sets will ride atop the tracks on their way to the North Pole.
The New York Transit Museum’s Holiday Train Show returns this month on Thursday, November 16th. It will run through early 2024 with an exact end date TBA.
Tickets to the show, which is sure to dazzle both children and adults alike, must be purchased in advance for $5 per person. Children under two, Transit Museum members, and MTA employees can catch the show for free (free tickets must still be reserved in advance).
Tickets become available three weeks in advance of a given date on a rolling basis and can be purchased here.
