Mayor de Blasio announced today (April 19) that NYC’s iconic American Museum of Natural History will become a vaccine site on the Upper West Side. It will open to all New Yorkers but mainly focused on serving public housing residents, as well as cultural institution employees like museum staff (members of the DC 37 union).
Yes, you can literally get vaccinated right underneath the giant blue whale!
“Speaking personally, as well as on behalf of the museum itself, this institution is dedicated to fostering scientific knowledge and understanding, and providing access to it to the public, so I can’t even imagine a more important manifestation of our mission in action,” said President of the Museum Ellen Futter.
They both also spoke about how it will be essential to the economic recovery of NYC, helping to encourage much-needed tourism once again.

The site will officially open this Friday, April 23. You can make vaccine appointment at VaccineFinder.nyc.gov; they are currently available to all those who live or work in NYC age 16 and older.
