With all there is to do and see in Manhattan’s Chinatown it’s likely that you never realized the neighborhood is home to the smallest museum in the NYC–especially since it’s nestled in an alleyway and only open seasonally!
Mmuseumm is arguably one of NYC’s most unique museums, located in an old freight elevator that opens directly onto the street. It’s smaller than a subway car and was recently named one of the most Instagrammable museums in America!
Displaying objects from around the world, the museum was founded by writer and creative director Alex Kalman and the Safdie brothers who run a film company out of the upstairs office.
Each winter the museum closes and you can only see it by peeking through the metal door’s window, but it’s set to reopen for the season on Monday, April 29th.
Upon reopening, a selection of famed photographs will be on display in celebration of Magnum Photo Square Print’s 10-year anniversary. They’ll be on display through Sunday, May 5th.
In the meantime, you can always get a look at Mmuseumm through the window whenever you please and learn more about the museum online here.
