New York City is no stranger to iconic red sauce eateries, but Bushwick’s newest Italian-inspired restaurant is doing Italian food with a more outside of the box twist–what we mean by this is their menu features a chopped cheese pasta dish…and, like, who else is doing that?!
Have we caught your attention? Yeah, we thought so.
Marie’s Restaurant is the newest culinary gem heading to Bushwick’s vibrant dining scene. Spearheaded by James Beard-nominated Chef Miguel Trinidad (known for working at Filipino spots Jeepney and Maharlika) and Restaurateur Brandon Boccellari, Marie’s will focus on modern Italian food infused with a New York City edge.
The restaurant’s name pays homage to Trinidad’s partner and is inspired by her Italian-American family’s tradition of cooking their meals using vegetables picked fresh from their garden. Trinidad hopes to bring this sense of family and connection to fresh ingredients not only to his restaurant but to Bushwick as a whole–the neighborhood he calls home.
The vision behind Marie’s is to become an integral part of the Bushwick community while also elevating the neighborhood’s food scene.
That’s to say their menu will showcase daily hand-made pastas with NYC-inspired flavors, essentially flipping the script on the comforting essence of Italian classics.
Dishes offered will rotate based on in-season produce with ingredients sourced from local vendors–they’re even planning to cultivate their own produce onsite, a nod to Chef Miguel’s family traditions.
Highlights include the Chopped Cheese Raviolo and Lamb Patty White Ragù.
Beyond just offering mouthwatering food, Marie’s also looks forward to connecting with the community through fun events such as pasta-making classes and wine tastings, with the goal of creating a shared community “The Marie’s Family.”
Chef Miguel stated:
I believe that food is not just sustenance; it’s a living art that evolves with each dish. As a native New Yorker, born in a NYC taxi cab, my upbringing in this city fuels my passion for culinary innovation. At Marie’s, I present my heartfelt ode to Bushwick, infusing playful interpretations of iconic New York classics, such as our Chopped Cheese Raviolo and Lamb Patty White Ragù—a contemporary homage to the cultural heritage of our beloved city.
Whether you’re looking for a cozy date night spot, a place to dig into your Sunday dinner, or anything in between, Marie’s wants all to become part of its community.
Marie’s Restaurant will open at 195 Wyckoff Avenue in the historic location formerly occupied by Sally Roots on Friday, March 29th.
