We’re all familiar with NYC Restaurant Week–you know, those beloved two times a year when we can enjoy neighborhood favorites for fabulous prices?! Well, did you know there’s a Restaurant Week on Long Island, too? Before you yell at us yes, we know that we have every type of food we could ever hope and dream for right here in NYC–it is one of America’s culinary capitals after all–but some of the finest food on the East Coast can also be found less than one hour from New York City, and there are some places that certainly make a trip to Long Island worth it.
Here’s everything you need to know:
What is Long Island Restaurant Week?
Long Island Restaurant Week is a beloved annual event that started in 2006–it began as a fall promotion, then a spring iteration was launched in April 2011, and then, due to popular customer and restaurateur demand, a winter iteration was added in January of 2016. Sounds to us like a summer version may be here before we know it…
When is Long Island Restaurant Week?
Unlike NYC’s Restaurant Week, Long Island Restaurant Week sadly lasts only one actual week–this spring it’s happening Sunday, April 27th, through Sunday, May 4th (though several restaurateurs embrace the week by extending it beyond the eight days).
What deals will be offered during Long Island Restaurant Week?
Similar to its NYC counterpart, the event allows eager foodies to try some of Long Island’s top restaurants for incredible prices. This year, nearly 200 restaurants in both Nassau and Suffolk County are participating, offering deals during meal periods of their choosing (2-course lunch, 3-course dinner, or both).
A trio of pricing options will be available, including $29, $39, and $46 three-course prix fixe dinners. Some restaurants will also offer a $24 two-course lunch prix fixe. Gratuity is not included but a 20% tip is recommended. Restaurants are required to run their deals all night, every night they are open from Sunday to Sunday, excluding Saturdays when certain restaurants may only offer it until 7 pm. Restaurants offering the lunch prix fixe must do so every day they are open during lunch hours.
