Nothing cures the soul like a steamy bowl of soup, and whether that soup takes the form of matzo ball soup, soup dumplings, ramen, or anything in between, we don’t discriminate.
But this soup cures more than just the soul, rather it makes the perfect cure if you happened to indulge in maybe one too many cocktails the night before. That’s to say this soup promises to cure the nefarious hangover.
Tosokchon, open for just about three months now in Manhattan’s Koreatown, specializes in serving Korean BBQ, noodles, tofu, beef bulgogi, and more. And in a city filled with bars, including the second best bar in the world, they definitely know how to cater to their audience.
That’s because New Yorkers can head to Tosokchon to cure their Sunday scaries with the restaurant’s Hangover Soup.
Served in a bowl the size of your head, the Hangover Soup is made with various ingredients, such as bean sprouts, pork bones, and ugeoji–the outer leaves or stems of cabbage, radish, and other greens–in a dried pollack broth. According to Eater, the soup also contains organ meats like kidney, liver, and intestines.
And while Eater writes that the soup definitely does seem medicinal, we’ll assume that not everyone is too keen on the soup’s ingredients.
So you’ll be happy to know you can always take the hair of the dog route instead and order yourself a beer or some soju while digging into a slew of other delicious dishes such as kimchi pancakes, bibimbap, chicken bulgogi, and various selections of hot pots, along with other mouthwatering eats.
Tosokchon, which resembles a Korean traditional house, opened this past August at 14 East 33rd Street.
