The Harvest Festival is taking place in McCarren Park this weekend, celebrating this beautiful fall season. While the live music, pumpkin painting, and a Greenmarket Selfie Station will be fun activities to participate in, the main event will definitely be the festival’s eating contest.
Who doesn’t love to watch people stuff their face with delicious foods?! In the past couple of months we’ve already had a dumpling eating contest at the Atlantic Antic Festival, and the meatball eating contest at the Feast of San Gennaro. For some reason we get some sick pleasure out of this, but honestly…we want more! The Harvest Festival will host a sweet contest with apple cider doughnuts. Nothing says “it’s fall” better than these little bites of warmth. We’re so excited we might just enter into the competition ourselves…

It is free to register for the contest once you’re at the festival. Taking place in the market’s information tent, you should register on the earlier side to secure a spot. The delicious and comforting doughnuts will be provided by one of Greenmarket’s seasonal farmers, Williams Fruit Farm.
