The ultimate fall bucket list definitely incudes a visit to the pumpkin patch and Kelder’s Farm is one of the best in the country, according to USA Today!
Located just over two hours from NYC by car, the farm packs in every fall activity you can imagine—fun for all ages. But perhaps the most thrilling of all is Kelder’s Farm’s legendary pumpkin cannon—think of Renaissance Fair where you throw tomatoes at a snarky actor, except it’s pumpkins and you’re not aiming them at anyone—maybe that’s too niche of an example.

Kelder’s Farm pumpkin cannon
The pumpkin cannon launches pumpkins up to 1,000 feet in the air before letting them slam to the ground. Why? Because why not!
It’s only operational on weekends and returned for the season on September 21st, 2025.
Although the cannon must be operated by a staff member and is not an interactive activity for guests, it’s quite the satisfying sight to watch a ginormous pumpkin plummet and smash. That being said, there is an apple cannon that guests can shoot themselves.

Kelder’s Farm fall activites
Beyond the pumpkin cannon, Kelder’s Farm offers u-pick apples and pumpkins, a challenging corn maze, fall hayrides, and more than 35 farm attractions.
After a full day of fun, don’t forget to treat yourself to an apple cider doughnut or their Famous Gnomie Shake made with vanilla ice cream, a seasonal slushy and topped with a fresh doughnut. For those 21+, be sure to stop at the on-site taproom to enjoy a selection of local beers, wines and ciders.
