Are HBO absolute geniuses when it comes to marketing the final season of Game of Thrones? We think so! Last week, they posted a cryptic tweet about hidden thrones planted around the world and invited fans on a little scavenger hunt… one of them ended up being in a park in Queens!
The 8th season of GoT is finally premiering next Sunday and naturally the fan base is excitedly awaiting for it to start! In celebration of the big day, HBO decided to gift NYC with another Iron Throne that can now be found right outside the Rockefeller Center. Initially built in LA and then shipped to New York where it was re-assembled through Monday night to early Tuesday morning.
At 35 feet and 20,000lbs, this throne might be as close as we get to the real one in Westeros, and although its way too precious to actually sit on, you can always admire its beauty and snap a pic (like the ones below)!
