From Broad City to Broadway, Ilana Glazer is hitting the stage this spring in George Clooney’s Good Night, and Good Luck, inspired by his 2005 film.
One of the most anticipated shows of 2025, Clooney’s co-writing project and stage debut focuses on the push and pull between journalist Edward R. Murrow and U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy. In this new undertaking, Glazer will be assuming the role of Shirley Wershba, a writer and producer for CBS and PBS. Like Clooney, Glazer will be making a stage debut as well. In 2022, she had co-produced the show, A Strange Loop.
Given the actor’s master of the comedic, this news of a rather serious role might’ve come as a surprise to some. However, Glazer has been keen on expanding their horizons post-Broad City.
“I think we always knew that this show had to end to still feel like this flash-in-the-pan experience — this quick, specific, ‘everything’s moving so fast’ both in the city, but in their minds, between the two of them,” Glazer told IndieWire last year. “I think part of us knew that this was going to end at this point and started getting other projects on our plates.”
New Yorkers are anxious to see how it will all turn out. Previews will begin March 12th at Winter Garden Theatre, and the opening night will follow on April 3rd. We’ll see you there. Until then, good night. And good luck.
