The US Open has officially begun, as fan week concluded last week, and Day 1 of the tournament is Monday, August 26th. And if you live, breathe and sleep tennis, this tennis-ball themed suite might be the perfect place for you to rest your head at the end of the day.
IHG Hotels & Resorts, the US Open’s official hotel partner, has launched the “Rally Room,” inspired by the age-old controversy: is a tennis ball yellow or green?
This exclusive suite located in NYC’s Kimpton Hotel Eventi isn’t forcing you to decide, but to rather see both sides with the room completely split down the middle (with a tennis court centre line, of course), one side all yellow, the other side entirely green.
“Whether a tennis ball is green or yellow is up to our guests to decide,” said Connor Smith, VP of Masterbrand & Partnerships at IHG Hotels & Resorts. “We love how the ‘IHG Rally Room’ taps into this fun conversation at a time when all eyes are on tennis during the US Open, where IHG is a proud, longstanding partner.”
On the yellow side, guests can bounce into bed, outfitted with a mini tennis ball-filled lamp nearby, a cozy yellow rug and a retro telephone and clock. There’s even special high-top sneakers, a baseball hat, and your own tennis racquet so you can look the part when you step out at the US Open to watch a match.
In the green side of the room, there will be another themed-lamp and rug (in green), along with a bowl of green candies to satiate your sweet tooth. Plus, if you’re one of the 44% of people who say a tennis ball is green you can sport electric-green low tops, a visor and racquet to the tournament instead!
Interested guests can reserve the Rally Room beginning Monday, August 26th for a maximum of two-nights via email at ExperienceIHG@ihg.com. It will remain bookable throughout the tournament’s two week main draw.
