The results are in. Only the best of the best have made it . Armed with pans, pots, spices, and family recipes, all of NYC’s places to grab a bite battled it out for your vote. It’s the real-life version of the Hunger Games. Zagat, one of the two most trusted culinary sources (the other one is Michelin and their stars) has released their respected 2017 survey, establishing the best spots in NYC for pizza, barbecue, Asian, and every other category. This is like the Oscars for hungry people.
Here are the categories, and the big winners.
Best Food: Le Bernardin. This Midtown seafood haven has been rated best food 10 times now, and it has been named the best for food, service, and the city’s most popular restaurant for the second year in a row.
Best new Restaurant: Kingsley in Alphabet City
Best Asian Food: Asiate in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel
Best BBQ: Hometown BBQ
Best Ramen: Mu Ramen in Long Island City
Best Food Hall: Eataly
Best Pizza: Julianna’s in DUMBO
Here are some other fun facts that the Zagat survey reported: 58% reported that they were tired of kale salad, 53% said they were tired of lobster mac & cheese , and tartare and hummus also made the passé list. Also, as reported by Eater NY, apparently 58% of respondents said they don’t share food photos on social media, which means 100% of the people I know fall into that 42%. Weird. Also, 59% percent admitted to looking at other people’s ‘grams and 70% said they’ve picked a restaurant based on food snaps.
