There’s no doubt that Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is taking the world by storm, and Harlem’s award-winning Harlem Shake is doing us one better than just watching the movie on the big screen–they’re taking us straight to Africa through food!
Harlem Shake is celebrating Black Panther: Wakanda Forever with their own menu specials inspired by popular food items from across Africa. For those who are unfamiliar with the movie, Wakanda is a fictional country, depicted as being in East Africa, that is home to the superhero Black Panther.
And those that head to the fast-casual restaurant will get to choose from several Black Panther-inspired menu items, each with their own creative backstory.
Shuri’s Chicken Sammie, named after the movie’s lead character Shuri, features the popular East African Peri-Peri sauce on chicken tenders, along with pickles and slaw, and the Peri-Peri sauce is carried over to the Harlem Shake Slap Fries, which are served with a mayo dip.
And of course, no meal is complete without a sweet ending! Finish your meal with the Vibranium Shake, a blackberry shake made with blue marble vanilla ice cream and edible gold, whose name is inspired by the mighty energy used to power Wakanda.
The menu items range from $9 to $11, and 10% of all sales will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Harlem when customers show their Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ticket stubs–digital or print–at either the Park Slope or Harlem location. The donation will be made in honor of the late Chadwick Boseman who was a huge supporter of the Boys & Girls Club of Harlem.
The Black Panther-inspired menu will kick-off this Friday, November 11, and will be available through Sunday, December 11 at both of their locations (Harlem: 100 W. 124th Street at Lenox Avenue, Park Slope: 119 5th Avenue at Sterling Place).
