A go-to lunch chain in NYC, Hale & Hearty, has closed all of its locations — with no sign of reopening anytime soon.
Signs appeared in the windows of their locations across New York earlier this month, reading: “Dear Hale & Hearty Customers, We will be closing all stores temporarily as of today, July 1, 2022. Thank you for your business & see you soon.”
The New York Post first reported the news, also sharing that the company was no longer contactable via their website.
The chain restaurant had 16 locations across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Long Island. There does not appear to an explanation for the closures as of now, although the Post shares that the branch at 111 Fulton St. was being sued for unpaid invoices from food vendor Chefs Warehouse as well as by its landlord for $400,000 in unpaid rent.
Hale & Hearty first opened over 20 years ago on 64th & Lexington, specializing in made-from-scratch soups (which were still being made in their Brooklyn kitchen to this day).
This article will be updated when more information becomes clear on if the closures are permanent or not.
