From slang words and skills you learn living in NYC to things that are considered totally normal in NYC but not anywhere else, some things just define the life of a New Yorker–like what they’re ordering when they step into their corner bodega!
We asked our followers to tell us what their go-to bodega orders are…and here are the answers!
1. A ham, egg, and cheese is a go-to, but the bread preferences differ:
- Ham and cheese, takis
- Ham and cheese sandwich
- Two eggs ham and cheese on a croissant
- Ham egg and cheese on a roll (a roll was the bread preference winner)
- Ham and cheese on a roll with an orange drink — if you know you know — and a small bag of chips (JLo, is that you?!)
2. Of course we wouldn’t be New Yorkers without our BECs:
- Bacon egg and cheese, salt pepper ketchup….. but if u know food BEC… SPK
- Bacon egg and cheese on a roll
- Bacon egg and cheese on a roll and a large regular coffee (the coffee is just as important as the BEC!)
- Baconeggancheeseonaplainbagel1regulahcawfee
- Large coffee, an orange, BEC, the times
3. Breakfast platter
- 2 eggs over medium, link sausage, home fries and toasted buttered white bread (they added: “Thank goodness the guy knows already and I don’t have to repeat this whole thing every morning.” thank goodness!!!)
4. Beef stew, yuca, rice
We don’t hate this response.
5. Lox on a cream cheese bagel
But what kind of bagel?! This is an important question!
6. Beer & cigarettes
Okay, fair.
7. And some order, well, nothing!
- Nothing ever
- Unless you’re drunk and stoned at 3 am, nobody should ever eat anything from a bodega. Gross!
Okay guys, stay hungry!!!
