It’s not just sidewalk chalk- this new mural has transformed two city blocks into a pedestrian-friendly, asphalt garden.
On June 7, two blocks of Broadway between 39th and 40th Streets were closed off to traffic to debut the garden mural, Ararauna. The 400 foot mural by artists Patricia Cazorla and Nancy Saleme, features colorful vines that stretch upwards towards Times Square. It is a part of the Garment District Urban Garden, a health initiative including free fitness classes and a food market.
The fitness class sessions will be running from June 13 to July 25 and the Urban Space Food Market will be open until July 13th.
