Popular Taiwanese chain Din Tai Fung has stolen the hearts of American states like California, Washington, Oregon, and Nevada, and this summer, New York City!
An earlier press release shared that Din Tai Fung had signed a 15-year lease for inside Paramount’s 48-story office in Midtown. We got a first look at the 26,400 square foot space and boy did the entire experience impress.
Din Tai Fung, known best for their Michelin Star rated Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings and noodles, is officially having a grand opening party for their first NYC location on July 18th after years of anticipation! However, some diners were privy enough to experience their soft opening with a limited menu as early as July 11th.
The chain first received their Michelin Star at its Hong Kong branch in 2010, making history “as no other Taiwanese restaurant [had] ever won a Michelin Star before,” shared Din Tai Fung’s website. Beyond Xiao Long Bao, the restaurant serves mouthwatering dumplings, wontons, & buns.
According to the press release, the mom-and-pop spot was founded nearly 70 years ago in Taiwan and has since become an international sensation. The 1633 Broadway location will not only be NYC’s first-ever Din Tai Fung, but New York State’s as well.
The restaurant space is designed by David Rockwell and his notorious architecture and design firm Rockwell Group.
“We are thrilled that internationally recognized Din Tai Fung has selected 1633 Broadway as its first New York restaurant,” said Peter Brindley, Executive Vice President, Head of Real Estate. “This transaction further exemplifies our focus on partnering with world class retail tenants and providing a spectacular amenity for tenants at 1633 Broadway and the neighborhood.”
