There are few things more exciting than the news of a popular restaurant coming to NYC, and if you’re a fan of Nashville hot chicken, you are in for a treat!
L.A.’s popular Dave’s Hot Chicken opened its first New York City in Midtown during August last year and was met with open arms. Don’t believe us? Ask some of the people who waited almost 30 minutes to get their hands on these tenders.
Not too long after, Dave’s opened its second NYC location in January, this time in Brooklyn.
To kick off 2023’s second quarter, the franchise announced it has inked a franchise agreement with Suhel Ahmed and Saurabh Desai to open 20 locations in New York City, focusing on the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn.
“It was a logical choice to make our entrance into The Big Apple and establish our presence in one of the premier markets in the world,” said Bill Phelps, CEO of Dave’s Hot Chicken. “The experience of Suhel and Saurabh will be a driving force for our successful entrance into New York, and I have tremendous confidence in them.”
Dave’s Hot Chicken started as a parking lot pop-up in 2017, serving halal hot chicken before opening a brick-and-mortar spot in East Hollywood. Since then, the team has expanded Dave’s by opening 100 locations in the United States and has even opened spots in Dubai and Qatar!
The menu is simple enough. Dave’s focuses on tenders and sliders with seven ranges of heat from No Spice to Reaper. Fries, cheese fries, kale slaw, and mac and cheese are available as sides.

Aside from Manhattan and Brooklyn, the company also has plans for Queens, Long Island, and New Jersey as part of the franchise’s expansion plan in the tri-state area. Dave’s Hot Chicken previously committed to opening 20 locations of the hot chicken spot in the five boroughs, plus another 14 locations in Jersey.
If you want to get your hands on the hot and spicy, aesthetically pleasing, celebrity-supported (Drake, Samuel L. Jackson, and Michael Strahan are among the investors in this Los Angeles staple) chicken sooner than later, head to Midtown Manhattan to get your taste of Dave’s now while its “low key.”
