The Chopped judges are quaking at the fact that this NYC restaurant lets you live out your foodie dreams and become a real life food judge at this cooking competition!
And yes, you get to taste the food, judge it, and banter back and fourth with the chefs as they cook, just like all the cooking shows you watch on TV.
The competition goes down at Hudson Table in Brooklyn.
Two chefs face off in a 3-course battle Iron Chef style and prepare an appetizer, main course, and dessert using ingredients found in their mystery basket. In true cooking competition fashion, the chefs can’t begin prepping or organizing anything until the timer starts, and, as a guest judge, you get to watch in real time as they prepare each of their courses right in front of your very eyes!
While the chefs cook guests are welcome to walk around, ask the chefs questions, and request taste tests along the way, before the best part–getting to taste the food!
And what would a judge’s job be without the chance to score each dish?
Using scorecards guests will rate each dish from 1-5 in taste, presentation, and creativity. At the end of the evening, scores will be counted and the winning chef (chosen via guest judge panel) gets crowned and receives a cash prize!
The competition is as authentic as it gets–right down to the countdown clock and buzzer to alert chefs of the end of each round–and things definitely get heated!
So, what do you think? Do you have what it takes to be the next Alexandra Guarnaschelli, Scott Conant, or Chris Santos?!
The competition runs as either a brunch or a dinner event for up to 20 people. Guests receive a plate of each chef’s 3 courses, so it’s ultimately a 6-course meal.
Located at 88 Withers Street, Hudson Table hosts between 2-5 public ticketed events each month. Learn more on their website.
Please note: Hudson Table plans on hosting a vegetarian cooking competition in the coming months, and then may potentially consider a vegan version as well.
