JFK may no longer be the world’s best airport–that title was stolen by LaGuardia–but it has a huge project in the works that may help it reclaim its number one spot: Terminal 6. And as we await its opening–the first phase is slated to open in 2026–the terminal is racking up quite the roster of airlines set to operate out of it.
The $4.2 billion Terminal 6 (T6) will blow travelers away with 2.4 million square feet worth of lounge space and retail dining–including several first-to-airport market brands–as well as curated public art and 23 new gates. It will be the airport’s largest terminal ever and is part of Port Authority of NY and NJ’s $19 billion transformation of JFK Airport.
Back in November 2024, JFK officially selected the first airline to make its home in T6–and it will fly travelers straight to Tokyo–and the latest airline has just joined in on the fun: Condor Airlines.
Condor Airlines is known for its curated leisure travel experience and was recently named Best Transatlantic Leisure Airline by Business Traveler magazine. It’s been operating year-round out of JFK’s Terminal 7 since 2014, bringing travelers from NYC straight to Frankfurt, Germany on its state-of-the-art, Airbus A330neo aircraft in a three-cabin configuration, known as the quietest cabin in the sky.
Mikko Turtiainen, director of sales, The Americas, Condor, stated:
As New York/JFK is one of our most important North American gateways, we are extremely thrilled to be moving into the new, state-of-the art T6. The boutique, curated guest experience of the new terminal is right in line with Condor’s brand DNA.
Condor joins a growing list of award-winning, international carriers who have chosen to make the new T6 their future home at JFK, including Air Canada–who’s currently giving out free flights to stressed Americans–and Norse Atlantic.
While we await T6 opening, here’s where to eat while awaiting your flight at JFK.
