The opening of JFK’s $4.2 billion world-class Terminal 6 is nearing, as Port Authority selects another new airline, Air Canada, to join Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Norse in servicing passengers out of the terminal starting in 2026.
Air Canada is Canada’s largest airline, promising a four-star rated experience according to Skytrax.
Passengers traveling with Air Canada out of the new Terminal 6 will have the convenience of being less than a 5-minute walk from the TSA security checkpoint to all gates. With the extra time passengers save by skipping the rush to their gate, they can relax and enjoy the terminal’s refined dining, captivating public art, NYC-inspired shopping, and much more.
Already, Air Canada runs two daily flights from Toronto and one daily flight from Montreal to JFK’s Terminal 7. Air Canada also operates out of NYC’s remaining airports, LGA and Newark.
“We are thrilled that Air Canada has selected T6 as its future home at JFK, where passengers can expect a boutique, premium experience,” said Steve Thody, CEO, JFK Millennium Partners. “This decision is also a testament to the close partnership we’ve built with Air Canada at T7, and we can’t wait to strengthen that partnership even further as we welcome Air Canada passengers to our new, state-of-the-art T6 facility.”
Following the debut of JFK’s Terminal 6, New Yorkers will have more opportunity than ever to travel anywhere across Canada, in addition to Air Canada’s international network.
The first six gates of Terminal 6 will open in 2026. The remaining gates and complete construction of the terminal will come later in 2028.
