‘Tis the season to marvel at the Dyker Heights Christmas lights and peruse the best holiday window displays along Fifth Avenue — all standard traditions for us New Yorkers. But now, a first-of-its-kind winter experience is joining the ranks: the Coca-Cola Holiday NYC Drone Show.
If you find yourself on the West side along the Hudson River — near The Intrepid and Pier 86 at Hudson River Park — look up for a dazzling display of illuminating holiday themes. (It’s not required, but we highly encourage bringing a cup of hot chocolate along for the adventure.)
The soda brand is rolling out the Coca-Cola Holiday Caravan pop-up tour across the country, bringing sweet sips, visits with Santa, and merch like your own personalized Coca‑Cola Zero Sugar can along for the ride. We’re particularly excited that NYC seems to the be recipient of a special celebration.
But Coca-Cola won’t be the only ones turning to drone shows this holiday season. NYC Parks have cancelled their annual New Year’s Eve fireworks after the drought in NYC this fall and the subsequent wildfires that spread throughout New York and New Jersey. To keep the celebration going, Prospect Park is replacing its annual fireworks display with a drone light show, so if you can’t catch the Coca-Cola display tonight, there’s still time. Details are still minimal, but celebration in the sky will feature NYC’s iconic attractions and landmarks in Grand Army Plaza starting at 10pm on New Year’s Eve.
