JFK’s New Terminal One seemingly keeps getting better, with the newest airline, China Airlines, to join the lineup for when the world-class terminal opens. President of China Airlines, Kevin Chen, even visited New York earlier this July to celebrate the exciting partnership. He said:
With such a promising future of The New Terminal One at JFK, China Airlines also hopes for an efficient construction of the facilities. We look forward to utilizing the latest technology to promote China Airlines and share the excitement of Taiwan with our customers.
The Taiwan-based carrier has been servicing a route between Taoyuan and New York for more than 40 years. Passengers can currently choose between four weekly flights from JFK to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport on a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. At present, the airline services multiple U.S. cities (New York, Los Angeles, Ontario, San Francisco, and Seattle), in addition to Vancouver, Canada.
By 2026, the airline will relocate to the New Terminal One. This new milestone will continue to expand China Airlines’ global operations and service in the North American industry.
It joins Air France, KLM, Korean Air, SAS, Etihad, LOT Polish Airlines, EVA Air, Air Serbia, Neos, Philippine Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Air New Zealand, Royal Air Maroc and Air China set to operate out of JFK’s New Terminal One.
The New Terminal One will be fully completed in 2030, with construction currently underway. However, 14 new gates will debut as soon as 2026 as part of the terminal’s first phase. By the end of construction, the New Terminal One will span 2.6 million square feet with 23 gates—nearly the size of LGA’s two newest terminals combined.
Passengers can expect the latest technology in the New Terminal One, making for smoother and more efficient travels. Plus, the massive terminal will make way for incredible retail and dining options—all part of JFK’s $19 billion transformation.
