As JFK Airport undergoes its $19 billion transformation, a new partnership between Air New Zealand, what’s just been deemed as the world’s safest airline, and The New Terminal One has been announced.
The New Terminal One at JFK will be the airport’s largest terminal to date, spanning 2.6 million square feet.
Air New Zealand is currently servicing passengers out of JFK’s existing Terminal 1. However, once The New Terminal One opens in phases by 2026 (completion set for 2030), the airline will shift locations and redirect its operations from there.
Other airlines joining Air New Zealand at the new terminal include: Air France, KLM, Etihad, LOT Polish Airlines, Korean Air, EVA Air, Air Serbia, SAS, Neos, Philippine Airlines and Turkish Airlines.
Travelers will get to choose from the three weekly nonstop flights between NYC and Auckland. And though nonstop is appealing, this journey takes about 17 hours. This route is known as one of the longest flights in the world.
“Since we launched our route to JFK over two years ago, it has become a cornerstone of our operations,” said Ben Evers-Swindell, General Manager Americas, Air New Zealand. “Providing an exceptional airport experience is a top priority for us, especially for our passengers embarking on ultra-long-haul journeys. We eagerly anticipate our transition to The New Terminal One at JFK and look forward to introducing our customers to an enhanced travel experience in 2026.”
Beyond The New Terminal One, JFK passengers can expect a new Terminal 6, a modern ground transportation center, and a simplified roadway network.
