The mission of Chelsea’s newest coffeeshop is twofold: delicious sips and meet-cutes.
From the dating app First Round’s On Me comes Café Social Club, the brick-and-mortar specifically dedicated to singles who want to take a break from their phones and form a connection in-person.
“In a city as fast-paced and digitally driven as New York, real-life connection has become a luxury. Between work, remote routines, and our constant scroll, it’s easy to go days — if not weeks — without meeting someone new in person. That’s exactly why we felt this kind of space was necessary,” First Round’s On Me founder and CEO Joe Feminella tells Secret NYC.
This adorable new eatery embodies the app’s mission. At first glance, it’s a simple coffee shop. But once you step further into the space, you’ll catch a glimpse of an event space with a pool table, cushy seating, neon lights, and a merch section.
“It’s casual enough to feel like your second living room, but intentional enough to spark meaningful interactions,” Joe adds.
Beyond a place to meet and chat over coffee, Café Social Club hosts events, workout classes, DJs, podcasts, and much more. When you’re feeling extra bold like the brew, feel free to jot down a dating red flag to place on the communal bulletin board.
“Dating today can feel isolating and transactional. We wanted to create a physical hub where people can ease into connection,” Joe adds. “Not everything has to start with a one-on-one date. Sometimes it starts with a shared coffee, a laugh at an event, or just being around like-minded people. This space takes the pressure off and replaces it with opportunity.”
Those with an app (who pay $24.99) are entitled to unlimited coffee, but those who are venturing in sans-profile can expect $4 lattes (actually reasonably priced). FROM user or not, we’ll admit this exclusive spot for singles is definitely worth celebrating.
