Halloween is a few weeks away and while you try and figure out which Halloween events you’ll attened this year, it’s also time to think about your costume too!
Whether you’re going for this year’s equivalent of Beetlejuice or Deadpool or keeping it simple with a safe witch or ghost getup, you’re going to have get some costume supplies somewhere, and we’ve got some places to help you out!

1. Abracadabra Superstore, Flatiron
Abracadabra doubles as both a magic shop and Halloween store, and they’ve been selling everything from costume rentals to makeup for over 20 years. Their NYC flagship is in Flatiron and holds more costumes than you could ever imagine, and it’s Secret NYC-approved. Organized by theme, type of costume, and more, you can spend hours in here gathering all the supplies you may need for your perfect look. Whether you need an entire outfit or small pieces like props or wigs, you’ll probably find it here!

2. Spirit Halloween, Various Locations
Nothing quite says Halloween like the annual Spirit Halloween stores randomly popping up around NYC. When you see one emerge on a street corner, you know their October residency is here and ready to go! Their selection is always top-of-the-line and ranges from women to mens to toddlers, with some of the best on trend costumes for the year too. Plus if you want to spookify your home and neighborhood, they also sell tons of decorations and animatronics. There are stores across all 5 boroughs, so be sure to check below on which is closest to you!

3. Screaming Mimi’s, West Village
Screaming Mimi’s oozes passion for costume and design, and it’s evident when you walk through their doors. Their racks of vintage clothing, assorted wigs, and other accessories are enough to take an outfit from good to great! Mostly everything in this store is carefully curated and hand selected on purpose with the goal of creating an iconic look. This spot isn’t where you’ll find spooky and gory costumes, but it’s perfect for something a little more out-of-the-box!

4. Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co, Park Slope
As the name implies, this superhero super-store is your one-stop-shop for all things adventurous. No matter if you need a mask, cape, or just about anything else, this is the spot to go. The reason why we really love this spot though is they double as a non-profit organization, 826NYC, that helps young NYC students learn how to write. Not only are you purchasing something for your costume here, but you’re also putting money toward a great cause!

5. Gothic Renaissance, Union Square
Gothic Renaissance is an iconic NYC Halloween store that’s been around for years and has a massive range of inventory. Specializing in all things goth, they have costumes, corsets, accessories, and so much more. Their super-friendly staff is one of our favorite parts of this shop because they’re so supportive and always looking to help you improve your outfit! They offer corset fittings too and even feature custom costumes and masks specifically made by NYC artists and designers. You definitely want to stop in here because you won’t believe what you’ll see!

6. Frank Bee Costume Center, The Bronx
What started as a family-owned shop, Frank Bee Costume Center in The Bronx has turned into one of NYC’s largest costume providers and retailers in the area. They constantly have at least 10,000 costumes in stock so you’re sure to find something. Considering they’ve been around for over 50 years, it’s fair to say they know a thing or two about Halloween…

7. L Train Vintage, Various Locations
While you may guess, L Train Vintage’s inventory sits more on the clothing side of costumes than anything else, but it’s perfect if you’re looking to pull off a disco outfit or something from the ’70s. Because there’s so many situated throughout the city, it’s easy to find one that you can spend hours in! It’s time to get creative and start crate digging!

8. Village Party Store, Greenwich Village
Village Party Store is a true party store and caters to just about every holiday and occasion, including Halloween. Their inventory includes many things including masks, wigs, makeup, and a whole lot more! This shop is great for Halloween parties too since they have tons of party supplies and balloons. If you’re hosting a spooky get-together, consider doing all of your shopping together at this spot!

9. Spark Pretty, East Village
Spark Pretty is your destination for vintage clothing, rock n roll apparel, toys and accessories. This one of a kind East Village shop is a hot spot for bright, colorful and eclectic fashions from the 70s, 80s, 90s and Y2k with a price point for everyone. With two floors of Halloween costumes and accessories, this spot in the East Village is the #1 destination for theatrical needs! After struggling in year’s past with maintaing stock, this spot is now an NYC staple, serving as a great place for costume, props, and wings, all year round!
