It might be a little harder for your dog to get exercise, as NYC Parks just shut down all dog runs and parks due to overcrowding.
“Due to the coronavirus pandemic, dog runs are closed until further notice,” they announced on their website. “Our parks remain open to dogs and pet owners to get fresh air and exercise; however, dogs must be kept on a leash according to park rules, and dog owners must keep social distance.”
In an accompanying press release, they said they have noticed overcrowding in the dog park areas and have gotten complaints from locals.
All basketball, handball, and tennis courts will also be closed and locked, and all basketball court rims and tennis nets will be removed in an effort to discourage group gatherings.
This is in addition to all city playgrounds closing, though Parks in general remain open. You can keep up with all their other service change announcements due to coronavirus here.
