Auch wenn der Mardi Gras gerade erst vorbei ist, ist unsere Jazz-Szene eine der besten überhaupt und umfasst sogar Lokale, in denen Louis Armstrong und John Coltrane auftraten. Perfekt für einen Abend zum Mitklatschen oder sogar als alternative Idee für ein Date – mit ein bisschen Saxophon kann man nie etwas falsch machen! 1. Smoke Jazz & Supper Club, Upper West Side
Der 1999 eröffnete Smoke Jazz Club wurde zu einem der berühmtesten Lokale in New York City, bevor er in den letzten Jahren durch die Pandemie zurückgeworfen wurde. Jetzt, nach der Wiedereröffnung im Herbst letzten Jahres, ist er wieder zu einem unserer Favoriten geworden! In den neuen, erweiterten Räumlichkeiten finden von Mittwoch bis Sonntag um 19 und 21 Uhr Jazzveranstaltungen statt, und freitags und samstags um 22:30 Uhr werden zusätzliche Sets geboten. 2. Blue Note, Greenwich Village
Blue Note ist nicht nur für seinen Veranstaltungsort in New York bekannt, sondern auch für sein internationales Renommee als einer der besten Jazz-Kuratoren überhaupt. Mit weiteren Niederlassungen in Mailand, Tokio und anderen Orten bringen sie nächtelang einige der angesagtesten Acts in den kleinen, intimen Ballsaal. Was den Jazz selbst anbelangt, so können Sie eine Vielzahl zeitgenössischer Künstler erwarten, die auch zu Hip-Hop, Soul und Funk tendieren. Auf der Bühne stehen nicht nur Legenden wie Sarah Vaughn und Lionel Hampton, sondern das Blue Note bemüht sich ausdrücklich darum, auch die lokalen Musiker von Greenwich Village zu präsentieren, indem es ihnen die Möglichkeit gibt, in einem der besten Konzertsäle der Welt aufzutreten. 3. Ornithology Jazz Club, Bushwick
Das Ornithology passt wunderbar in das kreative Viertel Bushwick und ist ein kleiner, unscheinbarer Ort, an dem Jazz-Shows stattfinden, veganes Essen serviert wird und der im Sommer sogar eine Dachterrasse hat. Es ist ein netter kleiner Brooklyn-Treffpunkt, dessen Jazz-Acts eine große Bandbreite an Genres und Berühmtheit aufweisen. Wir empfehlen einen Besuch im Sommer, wenn auf dem Dach Saxophone erklingen, aber es gibt eigentlich keinen falschen Zeitpunkt, um hier einzukehren, gut zu essen und ein paar Melodien zu hören. 4. Zinc Bar, Greenwich Village
Legenden wie Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra und Thelonious Monk haben die Bühne der Zinc Bar betreten, die seit den 1940er Jahren einer der legendärsten Jazz-Locations in New York ist. Die Zinc Bar ist einem klassischen Bogie-Gin-Lokal nachempfunden, mit einer Bar aus Zink, die mit alten Karaffen bestückt ist, und einem Champagnerkühler, der direkt aus einem Filmklassiker stammt. Sobald sich die schweren roten Samtvorhänge zurückziehen, werden Sie je nach Abend von Latin Jazz, afrikanischen Klängen oder brasilianischen Bands begrüßt. 5. Das Iridium, Midtown West
In diesem intimen Jazzclub im Untergeschoss, der mit Les Paul in Verbindung gebracht wird, treten hochkarätige nationale und lokale Jazzmusiker auf. Das 180 Personen fassende Lokal zieht ein gehobenes Publikum an, das gut zu der modernen Küche und der umfangreichen Weinkarte (aus dem 450 Flaschen fassenden Weinkeller) passt. 6. Birdland Jazz Club, Midtown West
Nur wenige Schritte vom Times Square entfernt liegt der Birdland Jazz Club, ein gemütliches Nest der Ruhe inmitten des geschäftigen Midtown. Der Birdland Jazz Club ist ein idealer Ort für ein Date oder einen Abend im Urlaub, vor allem, wenn Sie keine Karten für eine Broadway-Show in einer der benachbarten Straßen ergattern konnten. Im Laufe der Jahre sind hier Künstler wie Duke Ellington und andere aufgetreten, und viele von ihnen haben hier sogar einen Wohnsitz. 7. Das Django, Tribeca
Das Django befindet sich unter dem Roxy Hotel und ist mit seiner höhlenartigen, von Paris inspirierten Atmosphäre einer unserer Lieblingsorte, um eine Show zu sehen. Das Programm hier gehört zu unseren Favoriten, darunter der New Yorker Jazzkünstler Conrad Herwig, der bis zum 30. Mai dienstags um 19:30 und 21:30 Uhr auftritt. Der vierfach für den Grammy nominierte Künstler spielt Latin-Versionen von Miles, Mingus, Hancock, Coltrane und vielen anderen und darf auf keinen Fall verpasst werden! 8. St. Mazie Bar & Supper Club, Williamsburg
Das St. Mazie ist ein intimes Lokal, das perfekt ist, um zwanglos etwas zu trinken und gute Musik zu hören. Es gibt eine tolle Happy Hour, ein unglaubliches Austernangebot und natürlich tolle Musik. Der Live-Musik-Teil des Lokals befindet sich im Obergeschoss, während im Erdgeschoss ein Restaurant zu finden ist. Jeden Abend gibt es hier Live-Musik, also schauen Sie unbedingt nach, was hier läuft!

9. Terraza 7, Elmhurst
In diesem Live-Musik-Treffpunkt und Gemeindezentrum treffen sich die besten lokalen Jazzmusiker, Songwriter, Folkloristen, kühne Experimentatoren und andere, um ihr Wissen und ihre Ideen auszutauschen und schöne Musik und Kunstformen zu schaffen. Viele der hier auftretenden Musiker sind eher dem Latin Jazz zuzuordnen, aber auch Folk oder Blues sind an jedem Abend zu hören. 10. Bill’s Place, Harlem
Harlems Musikszene ist gut dokumentiert und Bill’s Place gehört zu den besten. Freitags und samstags können Sie hier stundenlang dem Saxophonisten Bill Saxton und den Harlem All Stars beim Spielen von Jazzklassikern zuhören. Und das Beste daran? Es ist BYOB! 11. Village Vanguard, Greenwich Village
Das Village Vanguard gibt es schon seit über 80 Jahren und hat sich als einer der kultigsten Clubs in Greenwich Village etabliert. Berühmte Namen sind gekommen und gegangen, und heute findet man von allem ein bisschen. 12. Minton’s Spielhaus, Harlem
Das Minton’s Playhouse in Harlem arbeitet mit dem Cecil Steakhouse zusammen, um eine einmalige Kombination aus Abendessen und Show zu bieten. Die Wände des Clubs sind mit Fotos von Jazz-Legenden geschmückt, und das einzigartige Design, die Beleuchtung, das Ambiente und die Musik machen den Club unvergleichlich. Wenn Sie ein echter Jazz-Fan sind, müssen Sie mindestens einmal im Smalls vorbeischauen. Dieser Jazz-Club ist eher ein „Hole-in-the-Wall“-Lokal als eine Dinner-Show-Kombination, so dass alles authentisch wirkt. Auf dem Programm stehen nächtliche Shows und gelegentliche Jamsessions, und gelegentlich können Sie hier sogar Jazzplatten kaufen! Dies ist das beste Jazz-Erlebnis, das Sie in NYC finden können. 15. Die Jazz-Galerie, NoMad
Die 1995 von Dale Fitzgerald, der Sängerin Lezlie Harrison und dem bekannten Jazztrompeter Roy Hargrove gegründete Jazz Gallery ist der Ort, an dem aufstrebende Jazzkünstler entdeckt werden können. An mehr als 4 Abenden pro Woche und 48 Wochen im Jahr finden hier mehr als 400 Veranstaltungen statt, die jährlich von 17 000 Zuschauern besucht werden! Hier finden Sie alles vom Jazz des 21.
