1. Das Roosevelt Hotel, Midtown
Im Film 1408 verbringt John Cusacks Figur die Nacht im fiktiven Spukhotel Dolphin Hotel, das im wahren Leben jedoch Roosevelt Hotel heißt.
Das Hotel wurde 2020 aufgrund anhaltender finanzieller Verluste durch die Pandemie geschlossen, wurde aber dieses Jahr als Unterkunft für Asylbewerber wiedereröffnet.

2. Tavern on the Green, Central Park
Das Tavern on the Green ist eines der schönsten Restaurants in New York und wahrscheinlich kein Ort, den man mit Grusel assoziieren würde, aber es war im Film Ghostbusters zu sehen. Der Buchhalter Louis Tully wird in der Szene mit dem Terrorhund gejagt und versucht zu entkommen, indem er sich in das Restaurant flüchtet.
Der Film wurde auch an anderen Orten in New York gedreht, darunter die New York Public Library, Umberto’s Clam House und das Lincoln Center.

3. Das Dakota, Upper West Side
Der Psychothriller Rosemary’s Baby aus dem Jahr 1968 basiert auf dem gleichnamigen Bestseller-Roman. Im Film leben die Hauptfiguren Rosemary und Guy in den Dakota Apartments in der Upper West Side (im Film wurde es allerdings in The Bramford umbenannt). Es gibt Gerüchte, dass es in dem Gebäude auch im wirklichen Leben spukt.
John Lennon besaß zusammen mit seiner Frau Yoko Ono Wohnungen in diesem Gebäude, und direkt vor dem Eingang des Gebäudes wurde er 1980 ermordet.

4. Greyshot Arch, Central Park
Als sich die Charaktere Rob und Beth am Ende des Films Cloverfield vor dem Monster verstecken , verstecken sie sich unter dem Greyshot Arch im Central Park, der 1860 erbaut wurde. Die Überführung ist nicht weit vom Columbus Circle entfernt, wo der Film beginnt.
Spaßfakt: „Greyshot“ sollte ursprünglich der Name des Films sein, obwohl eine Marketingkampagne mit dem Titel Cloverfield bereits viral gegangen war .

5. Das Belnord, Upper West Side
In der Serie Only Murders in the Building wird The Arconia gezeigt, ein Apartmentkomplex, der im wirklichen Leben The Belnord heißt. Das 13-stöckige Gebäude im italienischen Renaissancestil ist zu einem bekannten Wahrzeichen von New York City geworden.
