Aufruf an alle Fitness-Junkies! Wir bringen uns in diesem Sommer in Form, und diese Laufstrecken rund um NYC sind perfekt für Ihre nächste Jogging- oder Laufrunde. Von ikonischen Brücken und malerischen Uferwegen bis hin zu ruhigen Parks inmitten des Großstadtdschungels ist unsere Stadt ein Paradies für Läufer… und bietet eine Perspektive auf NYC, die man erlebt haben muss, um sie zu verstehen.
Also, schnüren Sie Ihre Turnschuhe und machen Sie sich auf den Weg, denn wir haben ein paar neue Routen für Sie!
1) East River Greenway
Dieser autofreie Weg erstreckt sich entlang der Ostseite Manhattans, vom Battery Park am südlichen Ende bis zur 125th Street am nördlichen Ende. Er ist etwa 9 Meilen lang und enthält eine 1,2 Meilen lange Lücke zwischen der 34. und 60. Straße, wo sich der Hauptsitz der Vereinten Nationen befindet (man muss die First und Second Ave. benutzen, um herumzukommen). Diese Lücke macht es einfach, die Strecke in 2 Routen aufzuteilen!
Wenn Sie von Süden aus starten, können Sie am East River entlanglaufen und die Manhattan Bridge, die Brooklyn Bridge und auch Brooklyn sehen. Weiter nördlich können Sie die RFK Bridge und Roosevelt Island sehen!
2) Sommer-Straßen
New York Citys jährliche Tradition, die beliebtesten Straßen zu sperren, findet auch dieses Jahr wieder statt! An jedem Samstag im August (5., 12., 19., 26.) werden einige der beliebtesten Straßen in New York City für den Autoverkehr gesperrt, damit die Einheimischen die Vorteile der offenen Straßen nutzen können! Dazu gehören die Park Avenue, der Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn und viele andere. Nutzen Sie diese gesperrten Straßen als Route, die Sie normalerweise nicht befahren könnten! 3) Hudson River Park
Auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite von Manhattan liegen der Hudson River Park und der West Side Highway, eine Route, die im Grunde die gesamte Westseite von New York City entlangführt. Sie können am Pier 97 im Norden beginnen und den ganzen Weg bis zum Pier 25 im Süden gehen. Die Strecke ist etwa 4 Meilen lang und führt an allen möglichen Piers, Parks und Sehenswürdigkeiten wie Little Island, The Vessel und dem Whitney Museum of American Art vorbei.
4) Brooklyn-Brücke und Manhattan-Brücke
Wenn Sie mit einer Route über die Stadtbezirke hinausgehen möchten, sollten Sie es mit einem Lauf über die ikonischen Brücken von New York versuchen! Für diese 4-5 Meilen lange Strecke empfehlen wir, in Lower Manhattan (in der Nähe des World Trade Centers) zu starten, nach Norden und Osten über die Manhattan Bridge zu laufen, eine Schleife in Brooklyn zu drehen und über die Brooklyn Bridge zurück nach Manhattan zu laufen. Dabei können Sie nicht nur die berühmtesten Brücken der Stadt bewundern, sondern auch die Fußgängerwege, von denen aus Sie während des Laufs einen tollen Blick auf die Skyline haben.
5) Central Park (Vollständige Schleife)
Der Central Park ist so riesig, dass wir ihn in zwei Routen aufteilen mussten. Auf der anspruchsvolleren Route umrundet man den gesamten Park, was einer Strecke von etwa 6 Meilen entspricht. Sie können zwar an jedem beliebigen Ort beginnen, aber wir finden, dass der beste Startpunkt die Ecke 59th Street und 7th Avenue ist.
6) Central Park (Stausee-Schleife)
Die andere kürzere Strecke, die bei vielen Central-Park-Läufern viel beliebter ist, ist die 1,58 Meilen lange Stausee-Schleife um das riesige Wasser des Parks! Diese Strecke verfügt über eine eigene Schotterpiste mit weichem Belag, auf der die Läufer nach Herzenslust laufen können. Wenn Sie diese Strecke laufen, achten Sie darauf, dass Sie gegen den Uhrzeigersinn laufen, damit Sie den Fußgängerverkehr nicht behindern!
7) Prospect Park
Für alle Läufer aus Brooklyn ist der Prospect Park der ideale Ort! Mit dem Grand Army Plaza als perfektem Startpunkt können Sie diese 3,5 Meilen lange Strecke beim nächsten Mal ausprobieren. Entlang des Park Drive gibt es eine ausgewiesene Laufspur, die es Ihnen leicht macht, in Ihre Zone zu kommen.
8) Flushing Meadows-Corona Park
Der Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens ist eine der besten Laufstrecken, die Ihnen zur Verfügung stehen. Sie können zwischen 3 und 4 Meilen zurücklegen, wenn Sie eine ganze Schleife laufen, die an der Uferpromenade vor der U-Bahn-Haltestelle Mets-Willets Point der Linie 7 beginnt. Sie laufen am Citi Field, dem Brunnen der Planeten und vielem mehr vorbei… es ist wunderschön. Gehen Sie auf jeden Fall morgens oder abends, denn tagsüber könnte es sehr voll und heiß sein.
9) Rockaway Strand
Es gibt kein anderes Gefühl als die Meeresbrise, die einem ins Gesicht weht, während man im Sand läuft. An diesem New Yorker Strand können Sie entweder nach Herzenslust im Sand laufen oder die über 5 Meilen lange Strandpromenade nutzen, die am Rockaway Beach auf und ab führt. Es gibt eine eigene Laufstrecke und auch Wasserbrunnen entlang des Weges.
10) Silver Lake Park
Unserer Meinung nach ist Staten Island ein völlig unterschätzter Ort zum Laufen! Vor allem der Silver Lake Park, in dem man eine anständige Wasserfläche umrunden kann. Wenn du vor dem St. George Terminal und dem Fährterminal-Viadukt startest, kannst du eine 4,5 Meilen lange Runde um das Gewässer im Park und zurück zum Ausgangspunkt laufen. Sie sehen die Borough Hall, die Verrazano-Narrows Bridge und natürlich den herrlichen Park.
