One thing about us is that we love to eat, and living in one of the best foodie cities in the world certainly means there are tons of food-related activities to take part in, like Astoria’s beloved 31st Avenue Restaurant Week, which is returning this March for its third iteration!
Part of NYC’s Open Streets program, the 31st Avenue Open Street in Astoria closes down the avenue to cars between 33rd and 35th Streets in order to offer space for outdoor dining, programming, and other fun community activities. And back in September 2022 organizers announced that they’d be expanding programming with the first ever 31st Avenue Restaurant Week, and it’s happening again!
Astoria is a multicultural neighborhood which is known first and foremost for its delicious food. Local small businesses are vital to the community, and 31st Avenue is lined with must-visit bars and restaurants–and this restaurant week is the perfect chance to try them for yourself if you haven’t already. Contrary to the name, the event will takes place over 14 days–yes, just like NYC’s more known Restaurant Week Astoria’s iteration is longer than just one week!
Eager eaters will get to try special menu deals from some of Astoria’s most beloved spots. Though more restaurants will likely be announced, so far participating restaurants include the following:
- Heart of Gold – a gem of a bar specializing in local craft beer who also recently received their liquor license (plus, they received our Secret NYC Stamp of Approval!)
- Bareburger – the first Bareburger restaurant in NYC, which opened in 2009
- Ramro – serving comforting, satisfying bites with vibrant Nepali and Filipino flavors
- DiWine – a New American restaurant and wine bar focused on natural biodynamic wines and artful cocktails
31st Avenue Restaurant Week will run March 3rd to 16th, though not all participating restaurants will offer their deals each day, so be sure to confirm before heading over! Deals range from a $12 smash burger, fries, and pilsner combo from Bareburger (they’re also offering two other combo deals as well) to a $15 specialty hot dog, side, and draft beer combo from Heart of Gold (we highlyyyy recommend their Berling Hangover, which is topped with mayo, curry ketchup, and potato stix and can also be made with a vegan hot dog!).
See the full list of deals and stay up to date if more restaurants are added on 31st Avenue Open Street’s website. Happy dining!
