Sometimes it seems impossible to find an affordable meal in NYC. Just by stepping outside on your lunch break, you’re practically signing away $20. Yet, this can no longer be said for NYC’s recent viral deal that’s offering up a juicy cheeseburger in NYC for just $2.55!
Coming from Jubilee Marketplace’s 20 Grams, the cafe is grilling up burgers from 12pm-9pm everyday. A regular without cheese will cost you just $2.15, while adding cheese brings your burger up to $2.55. Average burgers in NYC can cost anywhere from $20-$30. Hell, the most expensive burger in the world was available in NYC for a whopping $295.
Though 20 Grams only began serving burgers this past January, The New York Post reported that the spot sold up to 1,300 burgers a day and even sold out from the unattainable demand in a recent weekend.
So what’s the secret to this affordable burger that’s quickly become an NYC favorite? For starters, it’s made with local farm ground beef, garlic confit, salt, onion, on a potato bun and lathered in burger sauce. The sauce is apparently made of yellow mustard, mayo, ketchup, relish and a dash of hot sauce.
Owner, Young Kim, wanted to re-create his nostalgic middle school memory of going to White Manna to grab a burger for just a dollar and change, he told The New York Post. Kim is able to keep his prices affordable by purchasing ingredients from the grocery section of Jubilee. As of lately, it seems he has been more than successful in his mission.
