Tango, its music and the show
Tango is one of those art forms that transcends borders and generations, as people young and old from every corner of the globe are left enchanted by its magic. Originating in Buenos Aires sometime in the 1880s, tango is an emotionally-charged dance created by working-class people in the Argentinian capital. From Africa to Cuba, both the dance and accompanying music have been influenced by rhythms, melodies and movements from countries around the world.
“We Call It Tango” celebrates this treasured marriage between music and dance. Performed live by brilliant musicians, music by the likes of Piazzolla, Villoldo, Fresedo and more provides the soundtrack for these enchanting evenings. “Adiós Nonino”, “Libertango” and more sound inside The Sheen Center as tango dancers work their magic on stage.
