The Public Art Fund is a non-profit organization in New York dedicated to bringing the best of contemporary art to the city. They offer free exhibitions of international scope to the public. This week they present Wind Sculpture I by British-Nigerian artist, Yinka Shonibare.
Yinka Shonibare is the artist of the moment having exhibited his enormous, fiberglass sculptures in cities across the world. These unique, vibrantly hand-painted sculptures are covered with an intricate patterns, something the artist associates with his childhood.
You can pass by the Doris C. Freedman Plaza in Central Park on the corner of 60th and 5th Avenue any time from March 7th until October of this year to see the monumental sculpture in person.
