Wicked star — and Tony Award host — Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba) and co-star Ariana Grande (Glinda) are captured singing “For Good” and “Because I Knew You” from the second part of the film, which is due in theaters November 21st, 2025.
Have a look at the trailer below. Anyone else think November feels a little too far away?
Although the duo was inseparable onscreen and off, Erivo reveals that we’re encountering them during a challenging estrangement in the sequel.
“They’re sort of in their own lives right now, figuring out,” she revealed to the TODAY Show. “And they they do come together during this, but it it’s not easy for them.”
She also revealed that the audience can expect a lot of growth for the two of them.
“They’ve both had a measure of life happen between now and when you’ve seen them last, and so they have to sort of re-navigate where they are.”
When Grande was in conversation with Variety’s Clayton Davis, she said: “We see these layers of her privileged bubble pop and pop and pop as she grows and as we go along her journey… I think that’s when the final layer to it is fully popped, and her full heart is on the surface, and you get to really meet Glinda the Good.”
In addition to a new storyline, fans can expect new music in the sequel.
“I don’t want to give away too much as far as what it sounds like,” Grande added, “but I will say I’m really grateful for this song in particular because I do think it’s a really important narrative piece.”
We can’t wait!
