New Yorkers are always looking for ways to give back to the community. This fall, you can step up and support a massive food justice movement.
WhyHunger just kicked off its 41st annual ‘Hungerthon‘ campaign.
The global nonprofit works to end hunger. This year’s campaign features live events right here in the city. You can participate in a stadium run or catch a highly anticipated concert.
Here is exactly how you can get involved:
Sweat it out at the ‘Hungerthon Hustle’
Get your running shoes ready. On November 7, the 3rd annual Hungerthon Hustle takes over Citi Field.
The event features a 4.8K benefit run and walk. The distance stands in solidarity with the 48 million Americans who struggled with food insecurity last year. WhyHunger aims to shrink that number and distance every single year.
Award-winning personality Kalen Allen hosts the event. Comedian Taryn Delanie Smith joins as a special guest. You must register by noon on November 6 to participate in the NYC event.
You can also join virtually from anywhere in the U.S.
Catch Lucy Dacus at the ‘Amplified’ concert
Music fans are in for an unforgettable night. On December 1, WhyHunger hosts its Amplified Hungerthon Concert.
The event takes place at Webster Hall on Giving Tuesday. Acclaimed singer-songwriter Lucy Dacus headlines the sold-out show. Sibling band Infinity Song and comedian Julio Torres will also hit the stage.
Every single dollar goes directly to a good cause. 100% of the proceeds support WhyHunger’s mission. Fans can even request a song to influence Lucy’s setlist by making a direct donation online.

Bid on exclusive celebrity experiences
If you cannot make the live events, you can still show your support. The celebrity online auction launches on November 10 via Charitybuzz.
Supporters can bid on incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Early items include coffee with Jason Mraz and a tour of SiriusXM Studios.
You can also bid on Broadway tickets to The Great Gatsby. Other prizes include an autographed acoustic guitar from The Lumineers and a meet-and-greet with straight No Chaser.
You can also score exclusive merchandise. Donations through the official website unlock special apparel. You can grab a Bruce Springsteen signature tee or a John Lennon ringer tee.
Why your support matters right now
WhyHunger has been an engine for community-led solutions for over four decades. Last year alone, the ‘Hungerthon’ campaign raised $1.4 million. Over the last five years, they have connected 6.6 million people to food globally.
The need remains incredibly urgent. One in five U.S. adults relied on a food bank or pantry in the past year. By joining this local movement, you are directly investing in sustainable, grassroots solutions.
