Some people say that the “West Coast is the best coast.” New Yorkers know that there couldn’t anything less true. Now this happens. Stop fronting L.A., your pizza is not better than ours.
LA-born pizza chain, 800 Degrees Woodfired Kitchen, is planning to open their first NYC location. In a city that eats, sleeps and breathes pizza, is a new chain shop really going to succeed? Only time will tell.
In a statement, founder of 800° Anthony Carron said,
“We are excited to bring 800° Woodfired Kitchen to the East Coast, and couldn’t have asked for a better partner than industry expert Mario Zeniou to take our concept to the vibrant island of Manhattan. As one of the most important dining capitals of the world, New York City is the birthplace of many innovations and new concepts, and home to a huge population of food enthusiasts. We look forward to introducing our innovative style of woodfired cooking to New Yorkers and ingraining ourselves in the tapestry of the Manhattan dining scene.”
The restaurant is set to open this September in Midtown and will feature counter service during the day with customizable pizza options as well as rotisserie smoked meats, salads, and something called a “power bowl.”
We might be pizza snobs, but we’re anxious to try the new locale. Let’s see if it lives up to expectations.
