Jerich Marco Alcantara, a Hunter College nursing student, fell foul of the morning delays on the E train, causing him to miss his own commencement ceremony at Hunter’s Brookdale Campus. Armed only with a robe, cell phones, and passengers that will do just about anything to combat the doldrum of a morning commute, the train got together to throw the young man his very own subterranean commencement ceremony.
While one of his friends (presumably on his way to attend the ceremony too) presented the Alcantara with a digital diploma on his cell, another played “Time Of Your Life” by Greenday to set the coming-of-age mood. it didn’t seem to take long for the whole train to get in on the action.
