Watch a Couple Fly Around NYC on a Floating Star Wars Speeder
Watch an NYC vlogging couple, Jesse Wellens and Carmella Rose, dressed as Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia riding around Manhattan on a custom built Star Wars Speeder Bike.

We all love Halloween in NYC, but some people take it a little more seriously than others. Some dig in the bottom of their closets to throw together an ironic costume, others will ride around the city in a fully functional Star Wars speeder dressed as characters from the franchise.

Jesse Wellens and Carmella Rose, an NYC vlogging couple, dressed up as Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia this weekend and flew around Manhattan on a custom built Star Wars Speeder Bike made by Lithium Cycles. Check out the video:

The costumes are great, but the star of the stunt is undoubtedly the bike. The core of the body, believe it or not, is made of foam and cardboard … though it IS later covered in fiberglass so it won’t fall apart while they ride. The bike that the speeder is built around is able to float by the clever placement of mirrors around the base. Here’s how it was built:

We get it, you weren’t feeling bad enough about your hurriedly put together last minute costume. If it means anything at all, remember, it took an army of people to deliver on the promise of this first-rate Halloween ride. Jesse Wellens and Carmella Rose probably took home the “best costume in NYC this year,” let’s start working on 2018 now, yeah?
