If you’re in need of a last minute grocery run this Thanksgiving, you’ll have to rely on somewhere else other than your local Walmart…
Is Walmart closed on Thanksgiving?
Walmart’s nearly 5,000 U.S. locations, including every last one in New York State, will close its doors on Thanksgiving Day, November 25th as a thank you to its associates continued dedication and hard work.
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Walmart U.S., Dacona Smith, said:
Throughout the pandemic, our associates have been nothing short of heroic in how they have stepped up to serve our customers and their communities. Sam Walton said, ‘Our people make the difference,’ and that’s never been more true than it is right now…Closing our stores on Thanksgiving Day is one way we’re saying ‘thank you’ to our teams for their dedication and hard work this year. We hope everyone will take the opportunity to be with their loved ones during what’s always a special time.
Walmart similarly thanked its associates the same way in years past, marking the fifth year its giving everyone Thanksgiving Day off.
The retail corporation has long strived to be a strong support for all of its associates, especially throughout the pandemic. Most recently, the company had broadened associate access to no-cost counseling and extended COVID-19 emergency leave policy through the end of September.
Walmarts will remain open for regular hours the day before Thanksgiving on Wednesday, November 24.
