Economy Candy has been family owned and operated since 1937 and has changed a lot over the years. It actually started out as a shoe and hat repair shop with a candy cart outside but when the Depression hit, the candy started to bring in more revenue than the shoes! So, the owners took a new approach and history was made. Today, the shop is still owned by the same family and is a Lower East Side staple. Their Instagram account is totally trendy and their website is cute too, check them out to satisfy your afternoon sweet tooth.
