Restaurant Gitano may have Manhattan, but Oxomoco is the official Brooklyn hot spot for Mexican now a days.
Quality Mexican food has been readily available in NYC for years, but recently we’ve been seeing an resurgence of trendy and photo friendly Mexican as well. Food trucks, taquerias and a new found obsession for Tulum have “officially” brought out the trend to Manhattan and for once, I’m not complaining about all the Instagrammers snapping pics of their meal because this one is pretty enough to be worth it.
Oxomoco focuses on regional Mexican cuisine so you can expect something a bit more elevated than a food truck taco while still being approachable. Deliciously foamy smoked peach margs grace the cocktail menu while a slew of apps, tacos and platos round out a pretty stellar (albeit a little pricey) dinner menu.
The vibe is laid back and cool and tequila and mezcal fans will be drowning in options as their agave liquor list seems to be endless. The vibes make it a nice enough place for a first date if you’re trying to impress but it may be best to save it for the third due to the price and of course if you live in Manhattan, the ride to Greenpoint might be a little daunting.
