Anyone else dreaming of spring? “Van Gogh: Painting with Flowers,” NYBG’s forthcoming exhibit, has us craving blue skies and golden florals.
The seasonal celebration is an ode to the artist and the blooms that inspired him — the sunflower. Though details are still minimal at this time, visitors are promised botanical displays and large-scale art as they wander their way through a “lawn of monumental sunflowers.” If the bloom’s sunny disposition grazes your gardens and vases, bookmark this flower show on your calendar: May 24th.
A release from NYBG states, “You’ve seen the paintings, now see them come to life in a way that only NYBG can deliver—and let Vincent van Gogh’s unforgettable world of art and nature envelop you in a vibrant daydream during this botanical celebration of the internationally acclaimed painter.”
As soon as more information becomes available, we’ll be sure to keep you posted. Sign up on the NYBG website for ticket information once it opens to the public.
In the meantime, you’ll want to stop by the green space for the NYBG Orchid Show, which opens on February 15th. It’s viva la Mexico with this year’s theme, “The Orchid Show: Mexican Modernism,” which will use Mexican modernist architect Luis Barragán’s work as the muse.
